Small Circumference Knitting - An Original Class by Alissa Barton, Knitting Fairy
Knitting small items in the round requires looking at things a bit differently. Changing needles can cause gauge to shift and those dreaded ladders to appear in your work. But what to do about it?
Together we will explore the many options available to modern knitters, from traditional double pointed needles to flexible dpns, tiny circular needle, to 2 circulars, magic loop to traveling loop - we will find the option that is most comfortable with the best results for each knitter and discuss how to handle any gauge shifts that might happen.
Materials included: 1 skein of worsted-weight yarn
You can bring any size 8 needles you happen to own already for the techniques listed above (no straights). Alissa will bring a class set we can pass around to try.
Possible needles to try:
- Double pointed needles
- Dual tip DPNS
- Bent DPNs (triangle shape)
- Flexi-flips 9”
- Circulars
- 2 Circulars (any length) 40” circular needle
This class requires that you already have basic knitting skills.
What if I can't make it?
We understand that things come up! All class fees are non-refundable, however, they can be partially applied to a different session or a different future class.
