Combed top that has been hand dyed using acid dyes by Jenny of AJEM Fiber Arts. Jenny is a local artist, with a beautiful sense of color who loves spinning and creating gorgeous colorways on single breed fiber.
Each braid is approximately 4 ounces combed top from Polwarth (22-25 micron). The Polwarth breed was developed in the Australia in the 1880s as a dual-purpose breed. Polwarth is a fine wool, with a longer staple length than Merino, which makes it fun to spin. When washed, polwarth plumps, resulting in a soft, lofty yarn, but with good elasticity and drape. Great for spinning and felting.
